Conceptual Redesign
Process

The purpose of the conceptual redesign project was to take a well-known children’s story and modify it in both design and storyline. I remade three of the characters of Red Riding Hood, thinking about each characters' drive and inspirations, their relations and even their parts in the story. With only one scene portraying all three characters interacting, I needed to deliver my envisioned narrative clearly and with a clear purpose.
In my version of the story, the granny is the protagonist, she is a joyful small old slightly frail lady that tends to come across as delusional but she is the complete opposite once you get to know her and see her in action. The wolf is a little rat hidden behind the shadow of a “wolf” scavenging for food in grannies house. Although he is trying to pass for the big bad wolf, like any rat he is instead always scared and on the run. Red is tall and lanky, the complete opposite of her name “little” red riding hood, scared of many things but protective of her grandmother and definitely does not have a soft spot for rats. To create the perfect scene I created a number of different characters for each of the characters until I felt that I had reached the perfect ones. I tried to create everything with a cartoon-like tone in order to keep the idea of little red riding hood being a childhood story.
ANTI WORLD TOUR
POSTER DESIGN SERIES
DESCRIPTION
As with every project I undertake in order to design the deliverables for the hypothetical client, I followed a design process that included, in-depth research, brainstorming, considering and coming up with the potential audiences and thinking of what they would wish to be taken into consideration, I looked at competition and existing designs for said artist and their music genre. Once all of that was completed I then designed mood boards that worked incoherence with the artist, the artists style and their music genre.
The artist that I undertook as a hypothetical client was the infamous Rihanna, formally known as Robyn Rihanna Fenty I created brand collateral and posters for her Anti world tour based on her character and music.
Rihanna was signed by Def Jam record label. Robyn Rihanna Fenty, who goes by the name Rihanna is a Barbadian pop and R&B singer she is known for her unique and versatile voice along with her extensive knowledge of fashion and her appearance. In 2007 Rihanna transformed her youthful good girl image by abandoning her tropical rhythms to become a fierce independent and rebellious woman and named Madonna as her idol and biggest influence.

She is portrayed as : Sure of herself, in control, glamorous, confident.
Her target audience is men and women between the ages of 15 to 40. When her fan base is exposed to the descriptions of her personality and music, they tend to feel more value in purchasing her products, whether they are going for her music, her style, or her product lines. Therefore I created the collateral and posters based on her personality and music.
POSTER SERIES
OVERVIEW
In designing the artworks for the artist I chose to go in the direction of her personality and the meaning of the tour, the meaning of the tour was to embrace her new self and show her fans who she really is, she was ditching the good, shy, sweet girl act and becoming the confident, strong and no filter king of woman that she really is.
To do this I used color theories, fonts, representative images and metaphors. The color red is commonly known to be associated with danger or something bad and not safe, so I used that colour as my main colour and also because in my research section I found that red was a colour commonly used by Rihanna and people that have created posters for the artist, I used greys and whites as accompanying colours because they were used to represent the fading side of her, when something loses colour it fades away and becomes a lighter colour from when it was and eventually it is “grey.”
I used the specific font chosen in my mood board because as I explained earlier they were fonts that were similar to her custom fonts and the fonts are representative of her character and the music genre, they mixed with hip-hop & RnB type fonts that I learnt about in the research section which are the big bold fonts, messy and handwritten adding a personal touch, sweet (body font) and “unapologetic.” They all added a nice contrast and accommodated each other.
I designed each poster to either explain her coming out of her shell like the paper poster, and her logo that was coming “out from the background” and explaining that she was coming out with no worries or concern but she was coming out full blown like the black poster. They all had representative pieces and all carry the same meaning just laid out in different ways. I felt that the poster with the paper was the one with the clearest explanation so I carried the same design idea throughout the collateral designs. The posters have been designed to capture the audiences’ eyes (because of the loud colours as well) in order to give them a sense of what to expect and the level of effort put into the concert for those that are money conscious and to give the fans that will give anything to meet their role models a lasting experience (assuming they would keep the collateral) and also to give information that is necessary at the current stage to do that I tried to keep the information in an area that was separate from all the other busy aspects of the poster to ensure that it is legible for all users and it will not only catch her targeted audiences eye but maybe persuade other audiences to want to get to know the artist as well.
